Playing Hooky

When I was a child they made fun of me for saying ‘playing hooky’.  They told the teacher on me and told her I said ‘playing hooker’.  I’ve been leery to use the term every since.

But I have to say I believe my daughter played hooky from school today.  She was sick yesterday.  She woke up sick today as well.  She had a slight fever and scratchy throat.  It was enough to warrant at least a late admission.

But once she realized that she didn’t have to go to school, her voice cleared up and her fever miraculously disappeared.  ???

Can she possibly, at age 7, be good enough to trick me…the master?  I think not.

I’m on to you daughter.  Quit milking it!!
