Mother Daughter Time

February 10, 2008

This weekend, the daughter and I have been able to spend a ton of time together.  Friday we went to an indoor pool party.  At first I was a little concerned with pulling out my swimsuit in the middle of FEBRUARY!  I have been getting on the treadmill but I’m nowhere near swimsuit season ready!  Flab+Pasty=Not Looking Forward to Swimsuit!

On the inside I was kicking and screaming, “I don’t want to put my swimsuit on!  But I want to go w/daughter and have a good time.  Please don’t make me!  Make me!”  I suddenly understood the people that try to wear t-shirts and shorts over their swimsuits into the water.  I knew that wasn’t an option but I did start to understand it.

In the end, I’m happy to announce, I sucked it up and sucked it in.  I put my suit on and we went.  We had a blast.  Once we got there — several mothers never even made it into the water with their daughters.  I’m proud to say I was one of the mothers that dove right in.  WE HAD A BLAST!  I felt completely comfortable because once we got there it was no longer about me.  We talked and played and bonded.  I sweet talked her into going down the water slide several times and she sweet talked me into catching her — every time.

I can’t believe I even considered not tagging along.  I’m embarrassed to admit it.
